Seoul, 2017.

An enchanting mountain landscape, a beautiful conifer branch, a figure of a soldier gazing at the peaceful surroundings, and the emptiness between them loaded with all that is not presented but present.

War is not child’s play, soldiers are not toy figures, and at the end of the day, when the lights are out at the museum’s aesthetic historical installation, ghosts of the past (accompanied by anxieties of the future) awaken the bare nerve endings of missing limbs, leaving us with the constant restless presence of the absent.

Between Tel Aviv and Seoul, between orderly composition and chaotic reality, I traveled as far as possible from my familiar everyday life only to reencounter myself…
